Description
A rim latch screws onto the face of the door instead of being cut into its edge, which makes it the answer for thin doors, old doors and metal-framed doors where routing a mortise pocket would weaken or ruin the leaf. The latch locks itself the moment the door is pulled shut, so the door is never left insecure by accident. A snib on the inside holds the latch open when you want the door on the latch, and the inside knob always opens it regardless of the state of the key outside.
